On the Brink, Holyhead

Canolfan Ucheldre, Holyhead, 2009. My recent exhibition drew together a variety of photographic, video, installation, sculpture and drawing inspired by a visit to the coast of Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli). The 'On the Brink' project continues and will form part of the next exhibition in Denbigh in 2010.

This project develops a longstanding exploration into coastline and islands and for 'On the Brink' I have turned my attention to climate change and the potential human consequences. Projected future rises in sea level will create new islands, just as Anglesey was formed in the past. The fairly imminent division of Bardsey into two across the middle has, for me, become a metaphor for the more major geographical and social changes we might anticipate.
